This website resource began life as the Resourcing Anglican HEI Chaplaincy for the Challenges of Today project supported by the Church Colleges of Education Fund. A generous grant of £8500 was received which enabled both time for authoring the material and the important preliminary of three regional conferences of existing Anglican university chaplains. These conferences helped sketch out the territory to be covered, and also provided valuable insights that have been incorporated into its pages. In chronological order these conferences took place at:
Gloucestershire University (4 July 2013)
Convener: The Revd Bruce Goodwin
Participants:
- The Revd Ainsley Griffiths (Trinity St David’s)
- Jo Parkin (Gloucestershire)
- The Revd Paul Thompson (St Mark & St John, Plymouth)
- The Revd Dr Jeremy Law (Project Director)
Whitelands College, Roehampton University (9 July 2013)
Convener: The Revd Dr Mark Garner
Participants:
- Caroline Cole (St Mary’s Twickenham)
- The Revd David Innes (Southlands, Roehampton)
- The Revd David Stroud (Canterbury Christ Church)
- The Revd Dr Peter Waddell (Winchester)
- Hannah Wallace (Canterbury Christ Church)
- The Revd Dr Jeremy Law (Project Director)
York St John University (11 July 2013)
Convener: The Revd Lukas Njenga

- Dot Cotton
- The Revd Matthew Firth (Cumbria)
- The Revd Peter Green (Bishop Grosseteste, Lincoln)

I would like to acknowledge the generous encouragement and support I received in undertaking this project from the Revd Dr Stephen Heap, then National Secretary for Higher Education, Church House.
Thanks are also due to my Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rama Thirunamachadran for enabling me to take study leave in January and February 2014, and especially to my colleagues, The Revd David Stroud, The Revd Sally Womersley and Hannah Wallace, who cheerfully and willingly enabled me to be absent from the Chaplaincy Team at Canterbury Christ Church and who are my companions in ministry.
A second grant of £4,500 was received in January 2015 from the now named Church Universities Fund. This provided for the expert, professional help of Ross Hardy of Nevison Hardy Creative who took my bare text and made of it this beautifully designed website.
